Deepika’s date with Shammi Kapoor

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone finally had her long-awaited coffee date with veteran actor Shammi Kapoor and has called it the most "memorable day" of her life.

"Guys!by far one of the best and most memorable days of my life!thank u @shamsheraj uncle for a wonderful wonderful evening,(sic)" she wrote on her Twitter page.

The 24-year-old actress is a regular on Twitter and it was on this micro-blogging site that she received an invitation from Kapoor for a coffee date.

"Hi Deepika–would like you to communicate maybe could
meet over a cup of coffee at my place— love, Shammi uncle,(sic)" the ’Junglee’ actor had tweeted.

Deepika, who was in the capital to shoot for her upcoming film, was surprised to know that the 78-year-old was on Twitter, which is the favourite haunt of young Bollywood stars.

"I’ve met Shammiji a couple of times and always felt this warmth towards him and I can feel the same from him. Even his wife has been very nice to me. Apparently he was tweeting me and I didn’t even imagine that Shammiji would be on Twitter. But that happened just before I came to Delhi so when I go back I’ll have my coffee date with him," Deepika had told PTI in an interview.

True to her words, the actress had returned to Mumbai and written to Kapoor on Twitter, "sir…pls let me know when and what time is convenient for u and I’ll be there…wouldn’t miss this opportunity for anything.(sic)"

To which Kapoor had replied, "If you are in India and not watching cricket then would this sunday 4 April 5 pm for coffee at my place, {ove (sic)."

The coffee date finally took place this Tuesday as Deepika was busy shooting on April 4.
